Masterati, aka Mod, headed to Goulburn last Friday for Proven Thoroughbreds (Mgr Jamie Walter) for his first up run this preperation following one trial at Hawkesbury. Despite being lumped with the top weight of 62.5kg, Mod toughed it out under in form jockey Jay Ford to win the race by just under a length.

Mod jumped well and showed good speed to settle on the leaders heels. Just before the turn at the 600 metre mark, Mod crept upto the leader to increase the pressure of the race. As the field galloped into the straight Ford remained patient on Mod, allowing him to stride out and cruise along, causing the other runners to come off the bit. Just before the 200 metre mark, Ford made his move and asked Mod to find another gear, which he did with ease, kicking into the lead and battling until the end to secure the victory.
