Despite plenty against him on the day, Easy Eddie opened his stakes account during the Autumn carnival with a win in the Group 3 Maurice McCarten Stakes over 1100 metres.

Joe had his concerns about how the 4yo gelding would handle the trying conditions - a Heavy 10 track and continuing rain - however Eddie dug deep and ploughed through the ground to win by 0.2 lengths over the Danny Williams trained She Knows with All Over Bosanova trained by John O’Shea back in third.

Easy Eddie was the first stakes winner for his sire Super Easy, whose dam Parfore has provided the stable with a number of stars in Ball Of Muscle, Terravista and Tiger Tees. The gelding then backed up a week later in the Group 1 The Galaxy, putting in another stellar performance when placing third behind Nature Strip and Pierata. The Group 1 placing takes his record to 8 wins and 9 placings from 21 starts with prizemoney over $500K. Not a bad return on his owners investment as he was just a $55K purchase.
