It was double trouble for team Pride at Kembla Grange yesterday with Kaapfever, a 3yo gelding bred in New Zealand, storming home and winning race 6 by 3 lengths. Kaapfever, aka Ryiaz, jumped as the favourite slowly from a wide barrier and settled at the rear of the field. The field strung out as the leaders went at a quick pace, leaving ‘Ryiaz’ sitting second last and about 15 lengths off the leader. Jockey, Corey Brown, squeezed ‘Ryiaz’ along and around the field early on in the race so he was sitting 6th just before the home turn. In the home run, Corey pulled ‘Ryiaz’ into the middle of the track and he kicked into another gear soaring home to over take Gwenda Markwell trained, Thors Thunder, and win by 3 lengths.

‘Ryiaz’ is by kiwi stallion Sufficient and was imported by Joe from New Zealand less than a year ago as a 3yo.
